They say it takes a village to raise a child. But for so many people, their natural village – aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandparents – are far away. For our family, one set of grandparents is in Brazil and the other is in South Africa.
Izzy meet her grandmother for the first time this month, two weeks shy of her 4th birthday. And it is not clear when they will have the chance to be in the same place at the same time again. So, it was really important that we captured beautiful portraits to celebrate this visit, something they will both be able to treasure when 18 hours travel separates them.
For this session, I decided to create art-inspired images using dresses from my client wardrobe. We gifted them to avo (grandma) in a bamboo box with 10 matted prints ( a new product in the studio).
It has been such a joy and privilege to have Isabella's grandmother here in New Zealand. And I am so glad I could capture images for her to carry with her back to Brazil as she carries her oldest granddaughter in her heart.
