Love not hate
As a photographer, I am uniquely placed to admire the rich diversity of the human experience. And admire, I do. I love the different diversity reflected in my clients.
While at the Kapiti Wedding and Events Expo, the question came up about whether I would capture a same-sex wedding. YES! Not even remotely an issue. Ever. I believe in my very core that love is love and I don't care what form that love takes. As long as it involves consenting adults, then have at it. Want to celebrate your nuptials naked under a full moon? Sure, you do you and I will be there to capture the moment. Want your wedding (or maternity or family portraits) to reflect your culture? Amazing. I have some hard boundaries (I said no to someone who wanted me to photograph them using an adult toy during their boudoir shoot) but I will communicate these if I think we might hit them during your session – so you can make a call on whether you want to work with me. I will also say no without any judgement. I just know where my comfort levels are.
So yes to same sex weddings. To the beautiful diversity of the wider community. To everything that makes the human experience so interesting. But maybe no to Jolene.
